Bukchon and Gyeongbokgung in One Day
Bukchon and Gyeongbokgung in one day: the palace first, Bukchon inside its 10:00 to 17:00 hours, the 1.3 km walk, Tuesdays, hanbok and the tours that do both.
They pair well: from Gwanghwamun Gate, Gyeongbokgung’s main gate, a walking route planner gives 1.3 km to the south end of Bukchon-ro 11-gil, about 18 minutes. Put the palace first and Bukchon second, so that you reach Bukchon’s red zone inside the hours Jongno-gu allows tourists there, 10:00 to 17:00, and do not plan it for a Tuesday, when Gyeongbokgung is closed. The tour on this page runs in that order: I LOVE SEOUL TOUR Co., Ltd.’s Seoul: Gyeongbok Palace, Hanok Village, and Gwangjang Tour spends a guided hour in Gyeongbokgung, then 30 guided minutes in Bukchon Hanok Village, before Bugak Skyway and a ginseng museum. It was per person from $26 in current promotion (usually $33), checked November 2026, with 4,234 reviews and free cancellation up to 24 hours before.
The calendar above is the palace day. One of its versions visits Namsangol Hanok Village instead of Bukchon, and which version the from-price buys is not stated: if Bukchon is the point, pick an option that names it.
On your own: the palace, then the walk

Start at Gyeongbokgung, then walk to Bukchon. The route planner’s line from Gwanghwamun Gate runs north-east to the south end of Bukchon-ro 11-gil, 1.3 km, about 18 minutes; Anguk Station on Line 3 is 1.0 km from the same gate, if you would rather ride part of the way back. Plan to be in the red zone between 10:00 and 17:00, and treat 17:00 as the end of your time in those lanes, not the start of a sunset walk: from 17:00 to 10:00 tourist visits there are restricted, with a KRW 100,000 fine after a warning.
For Gyeongbokgung’s opening hours and fees, check the Korea Heritage Service’s royal palaces site before you go; gyeongbokgungtour.com covers the palace’s hours and its Tuesday closing in depth.
In hanbok

Visitors in hanbok enter Gyeongbokgung and the other royal palaces free, Korean or foreign, under the Royal Palaces and Tombs Center’s rule, as long as they wear a jeogori, the upper garment, with a skirt or trousers; a jeogori with jeans, or a hanbok skirt with a T-shirt, does not count. The palace day excludes hanbok rental, so a rental is your own arrangement before the tour. In Bukchon, a hanbok photo is still sightseeing: the red-zone hours apply, and Visit Seoul asks visitors not to photograph into houses. Hanbok in Bukchon compares the rentals and what they charge extra.
Tours that do both
Seoul: Gyeongbok Palace, Hanok Village, and Gwangjang Tour
I LOVE SEOUL TOUR Co., Ltd.: Gyeongbokgung for an hour, Bukchon for 30 guided minutes, then Bugak Skyway, the Bugak Palgakjeong pavilion and the Korean Ginseng Museum, 4 to 8.5 hours by option. Entrance fees included; food and drinks, hanbok rental and hotel drop-off are not.

Korea Linx: a 3-hour morning walk from City Hall Station to Gyeongbokgung and the National Folk Museum, then Bukchon and Samcheongdong Alley, ending in Insadong. The Gyeongbokgung ticket is included; hotel pickup is not.
See the walk →Seoul: Bukchon Village, Gyeongbokgung, Gwangjang Market
VIP Travel: 3.5 hours from Myeongdong Station Exit 9, with Bukchon first, then Gyeongbokgung and the guard ceremony, a ginseng museum and Gwangjang Market; Changdeokgung and Insadong on Tuesdays. Personal expenses and gratuities are not included.
See the tour →Seoul: Half-Day City Highlights & Palace Tour with Hanbok
TRIPPER: 4 hours, with a hanbok rental depending on the option, Gyeongbokgung, a car to Bukchon, 30 minutes in Bukchon Hanok Village, the House of Baek Inje and a hanok cafe with one drink. The house is closed on Mondays, so Monday tours spend more time at the National Palace Museum of Korea instead. All entrance fees included; hotel pickup and hair and makeup are not.
See the half-day →Prices, ratings and review counts from the listings (GetYourGuide checked November 2026). Operators price by date and season, so treat the figures as the shape of the market, not a quote.
None of these listings mentions Bukchon’s visiting hours. Where a tour gives a start or pickup time, work out when it reaches Bukchon; on the VIP Travel tour Bukchon comes first, after pickups between 08:20 and 09:00, so ask the operator when the group gets there.
On a Tuesday
Gyeongbokgung is closed on Tuesdays, and the tours change their route. The palace day’s Tuesday option runs N Seoul Tower (observatory not included), Bukchon and Deoksugung instead; VIP Travel's tour swaps Gyeongbokgung for Changdeokgung and Insadong. If you are on your own, pair Bukchon with another palace: Changdeokgung’s Donhwamun Gate is 991 metres on foot from the south end of Bukchon-ro 11-gil by the same route planner, and about 5 minutes from Exit 3 of Anguk Station by the Korea Heritage Service. Check Changdeokgung’s own opening days on the royal palaces site first.
Bukchon with Changdeokgung and the Secret Garden
Changdeokgung’s Secret Garden is visited only on a timed guided tour, at most 100 people a slot, 50 booked online and 50 sold on the day, and it needs its own ticket on top of the palace ticket; the combined Royal Palace Pass does not cover it. Ko-real's 3 palaces and Secret Garden day, limited to 6, includes all entrance fees and the Secret Garden ticket, with lunch on Gyedong-gil, the street of the Bukchon Traditional Culture Center; meals and transportation to the meeting point are not included, and its itinerary has no Bukchon stop.
Which to choose
For a first Seoul day with the transport arranged and a view from Bugak at the end, book the palace day. For a morning on foot with the palace ticket included, book the Korea Linx walk. For Bukchon at length, do the palace on your own and book a Bukchon walk for the afternoon: Bukchon walking tours compares them.
